| The "Erin Elizabeth Sperrey Memorial Scholarship" is available to students who have successfully attended the Presque Isle High School Alternative Education Program. These students may be graduating from the program, have recently graduated, or successfully completed the program and returned to Presque Isle High School for graduation. Erin had difficulties in the regular high school with classes of 30 or more people being overwhelming to her. Once she entered the Alternative Education program, she blossomed into a wonderful student and a responsible young woman. She developed her interests in children, writing, and art through this program and graduated from High School as an honor student because of the assistance she got there. Therefore, this scholarship is dedicated to students like Erin, those who have overcome obstacles to set their lives on course. Preference will be given to students planning to embark on a career that involves children, art or writing to some extent, but is not limited to those students. This scholarship is not based on grades, but rather personal growth and development. We feel that if a person can change the life of even one other person, they have changed the world. This is the type of person we are looking for. This scholarship will go to someone who is caring, compassionate and willing to help others, someone who will honor Erin's name and live by the principles she learned and was continuing to learn. |
