Hope Variety Store. 10/11/2006 - Niall Clarke was arrested on Wednesday afternoon in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 less than half a mile from Kelly Road shortly after he allegedly robbed the Bank of America branch on Bangor Mall Boulevard 9/21/2006 - A man wielding a handgun robbed Gardiner Savings Institution on Kennedy Memorial Drive Wednesday morning, the third such heist in the past six months. 9/21/2006 - WATERVILLE -- Employees at a College Avenue motorcycle shop are nursing a few scrapes and bruises after a scuffle with an alleged robber who was accompanied by his wife and two young children. Jerald D. Stevens, 25, of 7 Daland St., Winslow, was arrested at the store on charges of theft, strong-arm robbery, assault and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. His wife and the children went free 9/6/2006 - A Westbrook man pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges related to his role in a bank robbery early this year and the near crushing of a Waldoboro police officer during the subsequent high-speed chase. 8/1/2006 - Portland police are investigating a robbery in which a man wearing a ski mask threatened a clerk with a gun. The robbery occurred at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Global Service Station at 1569 Forest Ave. 7/20/2006 - AUGUSTA -- An Augusta man was arrested Wednesday and charged with taking a necklace and ring valued at more than $5,000 from a Hallowell jewelry store. Raymond Clark, 34, was arrested at the Super 8 Motel in Augusta by Augusta and Hallowell police officers and charged with theft. Clark was identified using photos obtained from a surveillance camera video, said Hallowell Police Chief Eric Nason. 7/19/2006 - Police arrested a 25-year-old Bowdoinham man, a 21-year-old Bath man and a 15-year-old Brunswick boy in connection with the robbery last Friday of the Bowdoinham Federal Credit Union. 7/13/2006 - Westbrook police arrested Kevin Kunath, 34, and Steven Daniels, 31, on Tuesday. Police said the men threatened clerks with Mace or tear gas while robbing convenience stores, fast-food outlets and small businesses in both cities. 7/8/2006 - Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Main Street secondhand shop Friday. The incident took place shortly before 4 p.m. at My Sister's Closet. The man mentioned a gun but did not display a weapon, authorities said. No one was injured. 7/8/2006 - Police are investigating the robbery Friday of a Brighton Avenue nail salon. Two men armed with a knife robbed C's Nail Time around 11:24 a.m. No one was injured. The men fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a light blue Jeep Cherokee. 7/6/2006 - Police are investigating the robbery of a Dunkin' Donuts on County Road. Two men demanded money from the clerk about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and were given an undisclosed amount of cash before they ran away, police said. 6/17/2006 - Police were investigating an armed robbery Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts at Woodfords Corner. A man with a knife robbed the store around 10:30 p.m., said Lt. Robert Ridge. No one was hurt. 6/16/2006 - Police in Portland and Westbrook are looking for a man who held up three convenience-store clerks at knifepoint early Thursday. A man closely matching the description robbed the Rite Aid at 290 Congress St. in Portland Thursday night. Police are not sure it was the same person. 6/15/2006 - A man asked an ABC Taxi to pick him up at Bishop Street at 9 p.m. The man climbed in the cab, grabbed the driver around the neck and pointed what looked like a gun at the driver's head, police said. 6/15/2006 - A man described as a transient was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly attempting to rob the Bank of America at 534 Main St., police said. 6/9/2006 - A man was arrested Thursday in connection with crimes in Westbrook and Portland. David E. Cropley, 20, of Portland, was charged with a gas station robbery and a theft from Lowe's. He was being held at the Cumberland County jail 5/16/2006 - Police arrest, jail suspect in coffee-shop robbery Police on Monday arrested the man they say jumped through a drive-up window and stole $900 from a coffee shop over the weekend. Timothy Rice, 37, is charged with robbery and failure to submit to police officers. 5/12/2006 - Police are investigating a robbery at Art's Variety on Spring Street Thursday night. A man wearing a ski mask and a hooded sweatshirt robbed the store clerk at 8 p.m., police said. The man had his hands in his pockets, suggesting he had a weapon, but did not show one and nobody was hurt, police said. The man ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash. 4/9/2006 - Police on Saturday were looking for a suspect in an armed robbery at a Chinese restaurant the night before. No one was injured, and the pistol-brandishing suspect had to settle for a couple bottles of liquor instead of cash, police said. The suspect walked into the Jan Mee restaurant off St. John Street around 11 p.m. Friday, flashed a pistol and demanded money, said Lt. Peter Wentworth. One employee was on duty at the time, Wentworth said. 4/5/2006 - Police in Wells arrested a man Tuesday afternoon in connection with a bank robbery at the Westgate Shopping Center in Portland a half hour earlier. Gilberto Rosado, 39, of Portland is charged with robbing the Bank of America branch at the Congress Street shopping center at 2:45 p.m 4/4/2006 - City police arrested a Portland man and charged him with robbing a Movie Gallery on Market Street over the weekend. Police arrested Frederick Wilcox, 32, on Sunday and said he faces additional charges, including operating after suspension and probation violations. 3/31/2006 - Police arrested a Portland man Thursday on charges that he committed four recent taxicab robberies. Manuel Loureiro, 30, was charged with four counts of robbery and one count of violating bail conditions. He was out on bail after being charged in February with breaking into four Amato's sandwich shops, two in Portland and one each in Scarborough and South Portland. 3/29/2006 - Police are looking for a man who robbed the Dunkin' Donuts store at 196 Route 1 on Monday night. The suspect was described as a white male, thin, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He entered the store about 7:30 p.m. Monday, demanded money from a clerk, then left with some cash. No weapon was displayed and no one was injured. 3/15/2006 - A bank robbery Tuesday led police to a nearby trash bin, where they found a man suspected of the crime. Police arrested Anthony Coleman, 27, on the charge of bank robbery shortly after the Key Bank on Market Street was robbed. 3/11/2006 - A man robbed a convenience store of an unknown amount of cash Friday, police said. The robber entered the Big Apple store at 754 Congress St. around 9:45 p.m., said Lt. Bob Ridge. The man claimed to have a weapon under his coat, but none was seen, Ridge said. 3/6/2006 - Police are searching for a man they believe robbed two gas stations on Western Avenue over the weekend. Early Sunday morning, a man robbed the Irving station on the avenue, Augusta police Sgt. Mike Toman said. The man showed the clerk a handgun and took cash from the register. Police believe he was parked in a nearby lot. 2/23/2006 - Police are investigating a robbery at a bank on Maine Mall Road on Wednesday afternoon. Employees reported to police that a man entered a TD Banknorth branch and demanded money from a teller. No weapon was shown. Police said the clerk gave the man an undetermined amount and the suspect fled on foot.
